hey ram!
We are not often fortunate to see many indian movies whose proceedings are imbibed through out by some artistic metaphors... as this one!
all the hinduistic ideas are injected into his brain and the Ram's just ingested narcotic bung kicks off the fire in his blood...
never did his second wife appeared sensual to him before...
never did the communal hatred ideologies...
but all was before these intoxications...
he has never touched his second wife... as the groans of his first wife who he failed to save at the heightened madness of the communal riots that broke out at the time of our school text books hyped hard earned freedom... constantly ringing in his years!
she was raped by hatred... her throat splited open as ridge between indian hindus and muslims... but that moans were faded away in his new found virulence...
he kisses his new wife passionately... he literally drags her to upstairs...
as he caresses her in the bed, her whole body transforms into a big gun...
he hugs it... he kisses it... he makes love with all passion with it...
the gun whose trigger is waiting to be pressed against Gandhi's heart... which beated minute by minute for brotherhood between hindus and muslims...
he sighs off the drunkard man who is shouting "hindu muslim bai bai(brothers)"...
who would be more evil than Gandhi who preached brotherhood with those who raped his wife?
but he uses the trigger instead to kill some hindus to protect his muslim friend...
that friend's last words makes him realize... its not muslims who raped his wife... who ever ,let he belong to any religion... whose communal crimes due to the overdosage of medicinal religious preachings... rapes all the humanistic faiths...
all the terrorist are at the influence of narcotic bung...
all the happiness they derive from killing may give them ecstasy of climatrix...
but we know what the bung will do to the body at a long run... they will make it decay before the death!!!

I like the way this movie has been picturised, the screen play, costumes....but i do not agree with the arguement that Gandhi was wrong when he opposed the partition of India and Pakistan. Gandhi's goal, aim, whatever was selfless....and when we fight for a public cause, some unfortunate incidents (like in the life of Ram in this movie) happens which cannot be avoided. In the freedom struggle even, thousands of ppl died, but we continued to fight bcoz the cause was noble. Many will disagree with me, but this is my view.
