hey ram!

We are not often fortunate to see many indian movies whose proceedings are imbibed through out by some artistic metaphors... as this one!
all the hinduistic ideas are injected into his brain and the Ram's just ingested narcotic bung kicks off the fire in his blood...
never did his second wife appeared sensual to him before...
never did the communal hatred ideologies...
but all was before these intoxications...
he has never touched his second wife... as the groans of his first wife who he failed to save at the heightened madness of the communal riots that broke out at the time of our school text books hyped hard earned freedom... constantly ringing in his years!
she was raped by hatred... her throat splited open as ridge between indian hindus and muslims... but that moans were faded away in his new found virulence...
he kisses his new wife passionately... he literally drags her to upstairs...
as he caresses her in the bed, her whole body transforms into a big gun...
he hugs it... he kisses it... he makes love with all passion with it...
the gun whose trigger is waiting to be pressed against Gandhi's heart... which beated minute by minute for brotherhood between hindus and muslims...
he sighs off the drunkard man who is shouting "hindu muslim bai bai(brothers)"...
who would be more evil than Gandhi who preached brotherhood with those who raped his wife?
but he uses the trigger instead to kill some hindus to protect his muslim friend...
that friend's last words makes him realize... its not muslims who raped his wife... who ever ,let he belong to any religion... whose communal crimes due to the overdosage of medicinal religious preachings... rapes all the humanistic faiths...
all the terrorist are at the influence of narcotic bung...
all the happiness they derive from killing may give them ecstasy of climatrix...
but we know what the bung will do to the body at a long run... they will make it decay before the death!!! Posted by Picasa

21 grams

whats the weight of our heat?
whats the weight of the energy that drives all the synchronized biochemical cycles in our body?
whats the weight of our infinite emotions and thoughts put together?
to oversimplify the question... whats the weight of our soul?
21 grams... the exact weight of thats goes out of our body at the time of death...
how much chaos and emotional turmoil it had generated...
how much merry and happiness it fountained...
it makes us love ... it makes us feel... but how many of us loved it... how many of us felt it...
thats what he thinks at his death bed...
why he escaped a close death previously?
why the particular heart of an particular man who was killed in a particular way was transplanted to him?
why he fell in love that killed men's wife, even though he has a dutiful wife?
why he couldnt pull the trigger against that accidental killer?
why that same trigger went of accidentally , pointed to that heart which was going to stop for a second time?
what is the meaning of all these happenings ? whats the meaning of life?
and WHATS THAT 21 GRAMS...
one of the movies which triggered some thoughts which are still running at the back drop of all my thoughts... this movie is always close to my heart... and my 21 grams! Posted by Picasa

Fight club

Whatever pool of taste you belong to regarding films... I assure you will like this film!
you may be one of those who love to park their brains along with their vehicles before entering into a movie hall for an unhindered movie watching...
or you may be the one who splits the film frame by frame, and criticize them with your surplus flimic jargons to propaganda your enormity of the cranial space...
or you may belong to any categories in between this two extremes... You will find it hard to resist the temptation of becoming a member in the"fight club"
beneath all the layers of the clotted blood splattered all over... has hidden a deep spiritual subtext, which all the vedas are trying to convey all these centuries to this inner ear inturned breed called homo sapiens...
the narrator of this story is a chronic insomniac...
he meets a man, who is the dead opposite of him... supercool ever energetic Mr.tyler!
with him he becomes the co founder of the notoriously famous 'fight club' with its own set of its odd rules...
but Tyler turns to be more crazy than expected
with his gifted brain washing talks the religion 'fight club' spreads across the globe quicker than any religion ever in history...
the chaotic crazy driven narrators journey picturized towards the end of the film, trying to come unscathed from the 'project mayhem' ... is the intellectual film making at its best...
we are no different from the narrator...
in our greed stolen sleepless nights churn out all the thing that we are not and aspire to be in to an alter ego, which grows with our encouragement, drawing its blood from all the unholy wordly things ....it forms its own rule.... with satanic verses it seduces you to its rhythm...after gaining momentum it beats you blue...drives your soul to a complete disarray...and atlast you will be pushed to make a choice with its gun thrusted in to your mouth ...
that's what Krishna says to the confused arjun
this world is a fight club...
and the worst enemy you have to fight is... yourself!
but as the rule only one could survive...the you what you think of or the real you! Posted by Picasa

Taxi driver

to be frank, i feel like 'taxi driver' at times...
he as the curse of his profession has to come around and around the same city along with its scum and its nasty dark face again and again...
scum,scum and scum everywhere...
prostitutes more in number than the pavement stones lining the road...
husbands busy spying their unfaithful wives...
pimps with their ugliest grin trying to fish out the customers for their holy business...
the so called lovers... making mock of the so called love by love making right behind him in his taxi's backseat...
tired of all this things all he has to escape is to his grimy lonely untidy room...
but there is an angel among the scum...
she has no boy friends... dresses in neat cloths... talking to her colleagues maintaining the necessary distance...
one day he walks straight into her and asks her out with utmost frankness... Impressed by his frankness she obliges...
taxi driver gets a breather from his mundane life in the company of this city's only angel!
as this clean hearted dump headed man doesn't know its not appropriate to take an angel to a theatre showing a porn movie... the only theatre he could afford and knows to exist,
that angel elegantly uses her wing to flew away from him... all his hearty apologizes where shrugged off with same elegance, he feels let down...
he plans to take revenge... of this sin city...
as the 'Rung de pasanthi' type of indian youths... he plan to assassinate the mayor of the city...
to whom he hold nothing against...
but he has to pin some one down... some thing down...
that some thing which pushed him in to the gutters... and which let all the scum to flow right at the centre of the city laughing mocking hurting teasing... this lonely lonely taxi driver! Posted by Picasa

dil se

a desolated railway platform in a rainy night...
Amar trying to start the conversation with the sole companion, a stranger wrapped in a black blanket...
a gush of wind cruel enough to blow away blanket and mercilful enough to show him, her charismatic enigmatic face...
a quiver of excitement superpowering his shivering body...
he felt obliged to do something for her... even plucking some stars thrown wasted all over the sky... but she asks for a cup of tea! he runs fast ... wakes up the tea shop owner urges him to a cup of tea fast... he hears approach of train... his hearts starts beating faster... he grabs the hot tea... he runs back to the platform...
this time it is truly desolated... without her...
she is in the moving train with her fixed eyes penetrating through him...
alas !in a wisp of a second that brutal train carried away that eyes along with it...
he slowly comes out of shades, into the rain...
some rain drops plunge into the tea in his held out hand to make a rhythmic music...
he blurts out along with his melancholy mixed smile...these words!
"it is the shortest love story ever in the history"
poor Amar... he doesnt know it is going to be the best love story in the movie history... Posted by Picasa

cinema paradiso!

if you ask me why cinema paradiso topped your list... i have to give a long answer...
some things are always difficult to explain... why do you like some one why u hate someone.. why do you believe the presence of god... why sometimes u wanna runaway from a movie just 5 minutes after a tile card... why sometimes u sank down deep into the seat long enough to stroll out as the last person ,reluctantly....
why sometimes u couldnt control that stealthy tears slipping out of your eyes, even when your brain knows that its just a fiction enacted by actors!
even if i plunge willingly into somemovies willingly.... i may come out of it as dry as the thar desert...
but why some movie suck me into them... when i went there to be just the nonchalant bystander!
some just stops reaching my lens... but some seeps through my retina, soaks my mind... unleashing a whirlwind,a fire,a calm gale,a yohic ecstasy or a journey into a farthest galaxy!
so at the end of a movie dont ask me "do u liked it", but better ask "how do u feel?"
if you ask that question to me at the exit of "cimema paradiso" , i will say "blessed" .... and have to add after a brief pause this adjuctive "immensly"
so to cut the answer short... if u ask still why cinema paradiso topped your list i have to say..."watch it!" Posted by Picasa
